The Modern Argonauts in Cameroon

As the Modern Argonauts make their final preparations to set sail on the high seas of the Internet, teachers from different continents and their students have been testing lessons created for The Modern Argonauts Handbook (available soon in Open Access!). Among them is the Franky Comprehensive Secondary School in Yaoundé, Cameroon.

Franky Comprehensive Secondary School.

Ms Cynthia Fokwang, the Literature teacher there, shared photos from the lesson about Dionysus.

The class was based on the scenario Meet Dionysus written by Dr Elżbieta Olechowska from the University of Warsaw, within the project “Modern Argonauts: A Multicultural Educational Programme Preparing Young People for Contemporary Challenges through an Innovative Use of Classical Mythology” led by Prof. Katarzyna Marciniak within the European Rearch Council Proof of Concept Grant.

We are most grateful to the School Principal Mr Marius Verye Berinyuy, Ms Cynthia Fokwang, and the Students for being with us on this educational journey! Your feedback is of great help in the work on the final shape of the lesson. Our special gratitude goes to Prof. Daniel A. Nkemleke from the University of Yaoundé 1, our long-time team member in the Our Mythical Childhood programme, who put us in touch with the School.
