Dr Sonya Nevin Joined Hughes Hall

We are most pleased to share the great news. Dr Sonya Nevin has joined Hughes Hall as a by-fellow (a research post). Dr Nevin is also a supervisor (an academic post for small group teaching), and a tutor (a pastoral care role).

Hughes Hall is one of the 31 colleges that belong to the University of Cambridge. It accepts postgraduate and mature undergraduate students, with a very international community. It has a strong showing in education, law, and finance, though it takes students from other subjects too. It prides itself on developing students’ skills and having good contacts with the wider world.

Dr Sonya Nevin is a member of the Our Mythical Childhood programme. Within the ERC Consolidator Grant, together with Steve K. Simons, as part of the Panoply Vase Animation Project, she has produced five animations of Greek vases from the National Museum in Warsaw and several additional documentary films about them (in Open Acces on the Panoply and OMC YouTube channel). In 2024, in collaboration with teachers, Dr Nevin compiled and edited a collection of educational materials for schools devoted to teaching ancient Greek mythology and culture and teaching through mythology – Teaching Ancient Greece. Lesson Plans, Vase Animations, and Resources in the Our Mythical Childhood series. The book has just received an amazing review in “The Journal of Classical Teaching”.
